The Guitarist
A 100-word story
Whoever said, “the hits just keep on coming,” had never met Jimmy.
At 22, everyone was sure he was the next Dylan. Four years later, the ideas had all dried up, and the money had all slipped away.
He’d put away his old guitar, which had given him so much at first. It had failed him when he needed it most — no hits, not even the start of a tune.
But now, it was all he had left. So he gave it one more try.
And wouldn’t you know it, Jimmy found something special — a hit.
Life’s funny that way.
Background: I love music, and in particular, guitar music. Although I don’t write music, I do enjoy studying and then learning to play songs on guitar or piano. For authors (and particularly short-fiction authors), I think there is plenty to learn from how a song has to grab your attention quickly and convey a message or story.
I hope you enjoyed the story.
Stay safe. Be well.
