A Poor Choice
100-word story of a woman scorned
It was a silent meal, aside from the occasional screech of a knife on a plate.
“What’s the matter with you?” he asked.
“With me? What’s the matter with you?”
“Is this about your anniversary gift? I think you should give it time, see if it grows on you.”
“Do you want to know what I think?” she asked, her tone dripping with contempt.
At that moment, the full extent of his error became clear, as did the implication: couch sleep for weeks.
“You know, I think you’re right. I should return that exercise bike.”
She only rolled her eyes.
